The House of the Spirits 1993 Hele Film Nederlands
In deze verfilming van de bestseller van Isabelle Allende volgen we drie generaties van de Chileense familie Treuba. Het verhaal begint in de rustige jaren twintig van de vorige eeuw en eindigt in de turbulente jaren zeventig. Hoofdpersoon is de arme Estaban Treuba (Jeremy Irons). Hij maakt de mooie Rosa Del Valle (Teri Polo) het hof. De twee hebben trouwplannen, maar als Rosa per ongeluk drinkt uit een vergiftigd glas dat bestemd was voor haar vader overlijdt zij.Vervolgens reist Esteban naar de plantage Tres Marias, waar hij een bloeiend bedrijf van maakt. In 1944 vraagt hij de zus van Rosa, de helderziende Clara (Meryl Streep), ten huwelijk. Samen met Estebans zuster Ferula (Glenn Close) verhuizen Esteban en Clara naar Tres Marias, waar hen een stormachtig leven wacht in de schaduw
van de revolutie.
